NORDTEK-konferens
Varje år ordnas en konferens för medlemmarna. Konferensen består av seminarie, rektorsmöte och kontaktpersonsmöte. Seminariet är ett öppet forum för diskussioner om aktuella utbildnings- och forskningsfrågor. I seminarierna deltar representanter för nordiskt näringsliv, politiker och universitet

Tema för konferensdagen 2010-06-12
“Universities of Tomorrow” - From Humbolt to Corporate Companies
Europe incl the Nordic countries are facing a great challenge to be competitive in a global context. One indication is the international ranking system which is becoming important to universities as they are used for attracting international students, promoting R&D performance for collaboration national and international. Also politicians are using university rankings to demonstrate the performance of their country. Countries are in this line spending more money in R&D and education. At the same time stronger demands are given to universities to be able to respond and show results of the investment including a change on how universities should be managed. Universities are merged (Finland, Island and Denmark), they are being managed by employed leaders instead of democratic elected, buildings are owned in order to be able to respond to economy challenges, strategies are becoming important tools and the resarchers are not completely independent in terms of working areas. The conference will address following aspects
- Demands to future universities in a global context (Ministers, Industry, Society, University people)
- Ranking systems in an international context
- Engineering versus science
- Examples of transistion from Humbolt to Company like universities (Finland, Denmark)
- Demands to university leaders of tomorrow
- Ranking as a tool to carry out management of the university
- Risk and posiblities for engineering curriculums in the new setup
